Americans send about 38 billion water bottles a year to landfills. Considering the 1.5 million barrels of oil needed to make those bottles, the environmental impact of plastic bottle waste is truly staggering. By not using disposable plastic water bottles on site, Habitat is doing its part to reduce the the vloume of landfill waste and protect our environment.

In Miami-Dade County, more than 575 houses in builing materials is thrown away each month by homebuilders. By using and re-using materials efficiently, Habitat is encouraging good stewardship of the Earth's resources. Habitat donates unused drywall, wood, insulation, and other building materials to the ReStore, where the public can purchase these items at a discount. All proceeds go to building more Habitat homes.
