Asante Samuel Trades in His Helmet for a Hard Hat

Bring it Home Single Moms Foundation presents Habitat with a check

On Saturday, May 21, Philadelphia Eagles ProBowl cornerback and two time Super Bowl champion Asante Samuel traded in his helmet and cleats for a hard hat and hammer.

Samuel, a native South Floridian, is founder of the Bring it Home Single Moms Foundation. The foundation’s vision is to provide low-income single mothers with affordable homeownership opportunities.

The concept for the foundation was inspired by Samuel’s own experiences growing up the son of a single mom and seeing the sacrifices these mothers make to provide for their children. Samuel worked alongside foundation members and volunteers as they joined Miami Habitat in building the first ever “Bring it Home Single Moms” house. The build day culminated with a check presentation of $25,000 from the foundation to Miami Habitat. —MA
