Miami Habitat’s Blitz Build 2011, Blitz Off Broadway, featured the construction of ten homes on three blocks off of NW 18th Avenue, also known as Broadway.

These ten new homes complemented a handful of other Habitat homes that had been built in the area. As you drive through Liberty City, you can see and feel the impact Habitat families are having on the community. 

In addition to the physical impact of the homes, an interesting phenomenon occurred with the ten new Blitz homeowners as they shared their Habitat experience and helped each other in the construction of each others’ homes.

Total strangers prior to joining Habitat’s families, the ten quickly bonded and became the best of friends. As they move into their homes, they continue helping each other out, often using the skills they learned through their sweat equity hours. 

Not only did these ten remarkable individuals fulfill their dreams of owning homes, they also gained two new families: the Habitat staff and their fellow homeowners. Together, there is nothing they can’t achieve.
