On Wednesday, November 17th, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami officially dedicated its headquarters with a party and office tour for more than 65 people. Miami-Dade County Manager George Burgess was on hand to witness the formal dedication of the Anthony R. Abraham Building at 3800 NW 22nd Avenue in the Allapattah neighborhood of Miami. Read More |

Maxine Bryan celebrated her birthday just before the holidays, but Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami is celebrating her service for the entire month. Maxine is January's featured volunteer. A gifted singer and a diligent student, Maxine manages to dedicate four days a week to help in Miami Habitat's office. She performs clerical duties for the development, volunteer and accounting departments, generally helping in any way she can. Maxine also performs - literally. She sang at last year's Synagogue Sunday, captivating the volunteers with a rendition of "On My Knees" during the lunch break (photo above), and at the Baptist three-home dedication in December. | Home ownership is the dream of many families in Miami-Dade County. For many of these families, however, it need not be a dream deferred.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami is actively seeking applicants for home ownership. The application fee has been waived for January, and the guidelines for eligibility are available here. If you are fortunate enough to own a home of your own, please pass along this information to someone you know who might be able to use it. Help your neighbors escape the cycle of high rents and substandard shelter by giving them information they can use to get on the path to home ownership.
