Building homes in honor of the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”—Jeremiah 29:11 Join us January 15th, 2005 for Miami Habitat’s first Building on the Dream house-building event to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. Inspired by Dr. King’s dream to eliminate racism, poverty, violence and war, we are inviting Habitat staff, churches, civic organizations, volunteers and partner families to build with us and keep this dream alive. Building on the Dream embraces and celebrates cultural diversity and religious solidarity. It seeks to turn people’s dreams for affordable housing into reality by inviting people from all walks of life—regardless of race, culture, religion—to join Habitat in breaking the cycle of poverty and low self-esteem through home ownership. For more information on becoming involved, please contact Mia Batlle at (305) 634-3628 or via e-mail at mailto:mia.batlle@miamihabitat.org. “There is nothing new about poverty. What is new, however, is that we now have the resources to get rid of it.” Past featured events: |
