Miami Habitat for Humanity Guidelines for Group and Individual Volunteers (non-sponsor)

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us. We count on the support of individuals and groups to meet our home-building objectives. Through the help of volunteers, we have completed hundreds of houses throughout the county. (Where Miami Habitat Builds)

Orientation meetings:

Individuals and group leaders from schools, clubs, civic groups, and churches are asked to attend an orientation meeting before volunteering with Miami Habitat. For more information, see our orientation schedule page, or contact the volunteer [at] miamihabitat [dot] org (Volunteer Department) for more info.

Businesses and corporations are asked to partner with Habitat for Humanity through the Corporate Team Building Program. Contact the lilly [dot] izaguirre [at] miamihabitat [dot] org (Community Outreach Coordinator) for more information.

Community Service Hours:

Volunteers desiring credit for Community Service hours must participate in a Community Service Orientation meeting prior to beginning work in order to obtain a community service log sheet. Miami Habitat requires that those seeking credit for Community Service commit a minimum of 24 hours of service to receive documentation.

Workday schedule:

Apart from holidays and special occasions, work sites are open Tuesday through Saturday of every week. Our day begins at 8:00 AM with a safety orientation and devotion, and ends at 3:00 PM. Please arrive promptly to sign in – late arrivals may be sent home.

Scheduling:

Groups should contact our volunteer [at] miamihabitat [dot] org (Volunteer Department) to schedule their workday. We will check our needs and prior reservations then approve your date or suggest another. All workdays are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. If your plans change (size of group, arrival time, etc.) please contact us immediately.
