Young Professionals Making a Difference in Miami’s Urban Core

On a Saturday afternoon in June, under the warm South Florida skies, a group of socially conscious young professionals channeled their inner 4th graders and competed in a spirited game of kickball at Miami’s Biscayne Park. A few weeks earlier, instead of shorts and T-shirts, the same crowd donned their finest business attire for a ‘Build Your Network’ membership drive at FADO Irish Pub. Although the two events were of a completely different nature, the intention of both was the same: to help support the mission of Miami Habitat. Read More

The English poet Alexander Pope once famously wrote “Hope springs
eternal.”  Although he wrote those words in the early 1800’s, the
sentiment remains true as ever in modern times.

Hope is what drives Habitat in everything we do. Our families hope to
provide their children with a safe and comfortable place to call their
own. It is their hope, with every hour worked and drop of sweat
perspired, to give their families the opportunities they never had.

Putting Faith Into Action

In his book “The Theology of the Hammer,” Habitat for Humanity
founder Millard Fuller stated that regardless of our theological
differences, we can all agree on the Biblical imperative to serve.

Nowhere was this more evident than on June 25th at Habitat’s Faith
Day, which featured more than 100 volunteers from 16 Miami-Dade
churches, who all put their faith into action by lending a hand to God’s
people in need. Read More

Building Houses, Building Community

Anyone who has ever attended a dedication ceremony with Habitat
for Humanity can attest to what a joyous and emotional occasion it
is. Dedication day is the culmination of a long (and challenging)
process which begins with a partner family filling out an application
and months later receiving the keys to their new home and a new
life. Dedications are a celebration of hard work, of hope, of family
and, most importantly, of the power and sheer love of God. They
are truly special days. Read More
