Free Hurricane Shutters to Low-Income Families
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami is making hurricane shutters available to low-income homeowners to help protect their homes from hurricane damage—at no charge.
In a program sponsored by the State of Florida, Florida Department of Financial Services, and the Volunteer Florida Foundation, Habitat for Humanity will install hurricane panels on the homes of eligible low-income families. Families qualify if they meet the following criteria:
- The home is single-family detached and site built
- The home is valued at less than $300,000
- The homeowner has a valid homestead exemption
- The household income is 80% or below of the annual median income:
