HYP hosts happy hour at Cafeina in Wynwood |
| Last Thursday, in a small, hip corner of Miami’s emerging Wynwood Art District, a group of socially aware young professionals got together to lift a glass and lift the hopes of families & communities across Miami-Dade County. The 68-strong assembly of Habitat Young Professionals and guests met at Cafeina, a lounge-meets-art-gallery on northwest 23rd street, for their second social event in as many months.
“Everyone had a great time,” said Anysia Welsh, Development Associate for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami and the HYP-Habitat liaison. “And while doing so, we managed to far exceed our fundraising goal for the evening.” In fact, HYP raised almost $1,000 from donations at the door, a raffle, and a portion of bar sales. All of that money will go directly toward creating home ownership opportunities for low income families in Miami-Dade. Cafeina proved to be an ideal space for the happy hour, the intimate and interesting lounge and art space promoting networking and the sharing of ideas. Managers Lina and David went above and beyond for HYP, donating not only the use of the venue during prime happy hours of 7-10pm, but also a percentage of the bar sales for the evening and a complimentary drink ticket for the raffle. Three other raffle sponsors were also instrumental in helping the young professionals group meet and exceed their fundraising goal. Neox Image provided a photo session with prints to be raffled, while two esteemed restaurants from the neighboring Design District- Fratelli Lyon and Buena Vista Bistro- each supplied gift certificates. The HYP Happy Hour followed another successful social event last month: Bowling for Homes, held August 19th at Lucky Strike Lanes. The next upcoming event for HYP is Get Connected, a networking event for all South Florida young professionals being held this Thursday (9/23) at Blush in Brickell. |
