
Today, the Chamber presented the second annual Sustainable South Florida Awards at the Biltmore Hotel. The awards program honored South Florida businesses that are making an impact in the community with the development of sustainable practices, products and services. The award recipients are (by category): Green Building - Habitat for Humanity; Green Business - Waste Management Inc. of Florida; Green Education & Outreach - Dream in Green; Green Practices - Celebrity Cruises; and Visionary - Katy Sorenson, Miami-Dade County Commissioner. WTVJ/NBC6 Newsman Jeff Burnside served as master of ceremonies for the second year. The Sustainable South Florida Awards were made possible by Florida Power & Light Company and Baptist Health South Florida; and sponsors: Compuquip Technologies, Inc., Covanta Energy, Electron Solar Energy, Flagler, Gateways Unlimited, Natural Awakenings, Westhorp Associates and Zyscovich Architects.
