ABOUT HABITAT YOUNG PROFESSIONALS NETWORK

The short-term vision of Habitat Young Professionals Network is to raise money, create awareness, and promote volunteerism for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami. In the long-term, HYP members are to become ambassadors for the Habitat cause, transitioning into prominent contributors on the HYP Board of Directors and in their communities.

We are a diverse group of young professionals ages 21-45 that offers a combination of social networking, community outreach, event fundraising, and entrepreneurial volunteer activities in support of the Miami Habitat for Humanity affiliate.

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

HYP Miami offers a number of opportunities to get connected, get committed and make a difference in the community. One of the best ways to get involved is to join a HYP committee, where people wear several hats in an entrepreneurial, flexible organizational model.  Committee members are asked to attend monthly events and to meet once a month to discuss upcoming events. They are also expected to provide opportunities for future activities, assist with member recruitment, and make significant improvements to HYP.

Currently there are seven committees on which you may serve:

• Membership
• Marketing
• Family Services/Education
• Events
• Volunteerism/Construction
• Comaraderie
• Fundraising/Sponsorship

MEMBERSHIP STRUCTURE:

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP

Annual Dues:  $50 Individual    $80 Joint (friend/partner)

Responsibilities:

• General Members must pay dues
• General Members are invited by the HYP Board of Directors to attend subcommittee meetings on an as-needed basis
• In order to remain an Active Member, general members must pay dues and attend: one (1) general meeting, one (1) social event hosted by HYP or, one (1) volunteer activity per year

• Involvement in community through support of the Miami Habitat mission: creating home ownership opportunities for low income families in Miami-Dade County
• Member VIP pricing at special events
• Build strong affiliations with Habitat for Humanity and engagement with a community of young professionals
• Recognition as a young emerging leader in the South Florida community
• Education & knowledge through relevant workshops
• Opportunity to serve on a Board of Directors with voting rights on committees
• Being a part of the hottest new young professionals group in Miami!

GUESTS/NON-MEMBERS:

• Guests must pay event entry fees at the specified guest rate per event
• Guests do not have any obligations to HYP
• Guests will be added to the HYP contact list and will be invited to attend HYP social networking events
• After attending three (3) plus events, guests will be invited to join the General Membership

HOW TO JOIN

It’s easy to become a part of HYP!  There are four simple ways to pay your tax-deductible annual dues:

1. Write a check payable to Miami Habitat and send to:

2. Pay online here. (A convenience fee will be charged)
3. Pay in person at an upcoming event.  Cash and checks are accepted at all HYP events.
