Miami Habitat Board Selects New Chairperson

On June 20th, the Board of Directors of Miami
Habitat unanimously selected Ms. Arlenna
Williams as the new Chairperson for the Board
of Directors of the organization. Williams has
served on the Board of Miami Habitat for four
years, the last two as a member of the
organization’s Executive Committee.

A native of Miami, Williams is Assistant Vice
President of Operations for Baptist Hospital of
Miami, a part of Baptist Health South Florida,
where she has worked since 1980.“I am
honored and humbled tolead the board
during this exciting time at Miami Habitat.
The organization has grown tremendously
and is making a meaningfulimpact in our
community,” said Williams.

“I look forward to working with my board colleagues as well as ourstaff, families, volunteers and supporters in carrying out the greatmission of Habitat,” she added.

In addition to her appointment, the Miami Habitat Board members selected Mr. Hayes Worley as First Vice-Chairman, Mr. Scott Rembold as Second Vice-Chairman, Mr. Jeff Springer as Treasurer, Mr. Manny De Zarraga as Secretary, and Sister Linda M. Bevilacqua and Mr. Rod Castan as the Directors.

Leaving the Board of Directors are Ms. Susan Abell, Mr. Edward Holden, and immediate past Chairman Mr. Michael Battle. “Michael did a fantastic job at the helm of the board and we look forward to continuing the great work of Habitat,”said Williams.

Joining Miami Habitat’s Board of Directors are community leaders Mr. Ford Gibson, Mr. Jose Hevia, Mr. Dennis Calhoun, Mr. James Dockerty and Mr. Jack Downey. Ms. Sharon Joseph, President of HYP has also been asked to serve.

Miami Habitat’s Board of Directors is comprised of 22 local civic and community leaders who share a passion for the mission of Habitat for Humanity. Among their many responsibilities are the stewardship of the organization, the creation of a strategic vision and development, as well as being advocates for Miami Habitat in the community.
