ASANTE SAMUEL FOUNDATION “BRING IT HOME SINGLE MOMS” BUILDS ITS FIRST HOME

On Saturday, May 21st, Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowl cornerback and two time Super Bowl champion Asante Samuel will trade in his helmet and cleats for a hard hat and hammer. Samuel, a native South Floridian, is founder of the “Bring it Home Single Moms Foundation”. The organization’s vision is to provide low-income single mothers with the opportunity of affordable homeownership. The concept for the foundation was inspired by Samuel's experiences growing up as the son of a single mom and seeing the sacrifices single mothers make to provide their children with better opportunities.

Samuel will be working along foundation members and volunteers as they join Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami in building the first ever “Bring it Home Single Moms” house.

“The building of this first home, as well as the creation of the foundation is a tribute to my mother, Christine,” said Samuel. “Our aim to provide homes for single mothers who faced similar challenges as the ones she had”. “We are honored that Asante has chosen to partner
with Habitat,” said Habitat CEO Mario Artecona. “Asante is drawing from his own experience to help the lives of others,” Artecona added.

The build day will culminate with a check presentation from the “Bring it Home Single Moms Foundation” to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami.

When:       Saturday, May 21, 2011

Where:     1866 NW 63rd Street, Miami, FL 33147

Time:         9:30am – 12:30pm (check presentation at 12:30pm)

ABOUT BRING IT HOME SINGLE MOMS FOUNDATION
As one of America’s most gifted professional athletes, Asante Samuel knows firsthand the importance of building from a solid foundation. Today, his focus is providing those that we depend on most—our mothers—the safety and security they deserve. “Bring it Home Single Moms Foundation” is a unique, altruistic new charity. Inspired by the example of his own mother, Asante has forged the framework for foundational support of single mothers, who have no place else to turn. “Bring it Home Single Moms Foundation” stands out as the beacon of hope, in a saturated marketplace of aid organizations, that seems to have overlooked single moms in need. The organization’s vision is to provide cost efficient homes for single mothers functioning on a low-income. With a safe and secure place to call home, “Bring it Home Single Moms Foundation” intends to inspire pride, optimism, and stability for mother and child alike. www.bhsinglemoms.org
