Putting Faith Into Action

Volunteers at Faith Day

In his book “The Theology of the Hammer,” Habitat for Humanity founder Millard Fuller stated that regardless of our theological differences, we can all agree on the Biblical imperative to serve.

Nowhere was this more evident than on June 25th at Habitat’s Faith Day, which featured more than 100 volunteers from 16 Miami-Dade churches, who all put their faith into action by lending a hand to God’s people in need.

Enduring the sweltering Miami summer heat, volunteers from various houses of worship (Episcopalian, Catholic, Evangelical, as well as non-denominational and other churches) hung dry wall, painted, roofed and landscaped numerous Habitat homes. At the end of a difficult day, the volunteers wore satisfied and exhausted smiles, and shared in the joy of witnessing a home dedication ceremony for 17 partner families.

The next Faith Day will take place on September 24, 2011. If you are interested in participating, please contact joseph [dot] mcdaniels [at] miamihabitat [dot] org (Joseph McDaniels). —JM
