Feaured Volunteer
The Jones family

The Jones FamilyEd, Linda and Christy Jones became involved with Miami Habitat when they started attending South Kendall Community Church in 1995. The family feels that Habitat for Humanity gives them the opportunity to put their faith into action. Ed says “being a Christian isn't just going to church every Sunday. It's all about doing what He wants us to do which is worship Him and love His people. We can show our love for His less fortunate children by helping build their homes.”

Ed began leading a church work team that partnered with other congregations to build Louise McCray's home from start to finish. Since then, Linda, Christy and Ed have regularly volunteered once a month, and enjoy seeing the fruits of their labor.

“When Habitat homes spring up like roses among bramble, it's easy to visualize a revitalized community”, says Ed. He adds “the result is contagious, as surrounding homes and apartments tend to improve dramatically.”

The Jones' favorite aspect about volunteering for Habitat is the tremendous satisfaction they find in attending the house dedications. “It's a blessing to see the family move into their new home... you can feel God's presence.”
