Women Building Up Women

Women Building Up Women is a women’s philanthropy group dedicated to raising funds for the construction of homes in Miami–Dade County for low-income single mothers and their families. This is an exciting way for strong, dynamic women to make an impact on our community and join forces in support of building up women.

Why support Women Building Up Women?
This year, Miami became the most expensive place to live in the United States. Against this shocking statistic, we see that 19% of females in the county live below the poverty level, and 25% of Black/African-American females account for those in poverty. In other words, this demographic is even more at risk of suffering within Miami-Dade's exorbitant housing costs. It is no surprise that over 65% of Miami Habitat's constituency are female head-of-households. These are hard-working women that just need a little help and support in order to achieve their dream of owning a home for their families.

The mission of Women Building Up Women is to bring Miami's business women together, each donating $1,000 or more with a collective annual goal of $500,000 in support of building decent, affordable homeownership opportunities for single mothers. Offering a hand up not a handout.

Who can be a member?
Any woman of any age is a potential member. Women Building Up Women tributes may be made to recognize mothers, daughters, granddaughters, nieces, god-daughters, sisters, etc. and is a unique gift to honor a special woman in your life.

Women Building Up Women may be sponsored by a company or foundation and its name will be included in the recognition of the Women Building up Women member.

Donor Benefits:
Each Women Building Up Women donor of $1,000 or more will have their name inscribed on a donor wall at Habitat for Humanity, and acknowledged in Habitat’s annual report. Members will be invited to submit a photo so that they may be recognized in the Women Building Up Women online gallery; will receive a commemorative gift. All members will have unique volunteer opportunities and will be invited to members-only events.

Join Women Building Up Women

Team Captains will receive all of the above benefits, as well as, special recognition as a Team Captain. Upon completion of their team they will be recognized with an award at a designated event.
